About

 Colette Bachand

Colette Bachand is a passionate art educator who’s been lighting up classrooms and inspiring creativity since 2016. Armed with a Bachelor of Education degree specializing in Fine Arts from the University of Alberta, Colette has spent nearly a decade bringing out the inner artist in students from Kindergarten all the way through Grade 12.

Today, Colette teaches art at Classical Academy in Edmonton, Alberta, where she blends inspiration from art history’s greats with her own style. Her approach to teaching isn’t just about mastering techniques—it’s about fostering a deep appreciation for the rich, vibrant tapestry of art throughout history.

When she’s not in the classroom, Colette is busy pursuing her own artistic passions. Her work is a celebration of life’s subtle moments, exploring the interplay of background and foreground with a playful mix of gouache, acrylic, charcoal, pencil, and pen. Whether she’s sketching a portrait, capturing the personality of a beloved pet, or experimenting with texture and color, her art radiates joy and meaning.

Colette believes art has the power to transform people and perspectives. Through her teaching and creative work, she’s on a mission to inspire others to embrace art, discover its magic, and see beauty in the everyday.

Artist statement:

“There is beauty in the everyday, and my goal is to capture it.”
